Archery GB have recently announced a huge change to classification; aiming to make archery progression more accessible. The biggest change is there are now 3 tiers: Archer Tier, Bowmen Tier and Master Bowmen Tier. Each tier contains 3 levels. Clubs can award Archer and Bowmen Tier classifications. Required scores are still split by bow style and age, with a new 50+ category and clearer definition of age ranges for juniors.
One of the biggest differences at club level is Bowmen Tier is aimed at being a more competitive environment and as such, scores will only count when shot at a ‘competitive event’, rather than a practice session.
The committee will be looking into the best way to facilitate this going forward. In the mean time, you can read the Archery GB article here. The classifications notice board in the club house has also been updated.
